Refinishing the wooden floor in your home can really make a difference to how the whole floor looks and the whole room feels. In the 1960s and 1970s people would often cover up the beautiful wooden floor they had because the trend at the time was to have carpeted floors. This meant that beautiful wooden flooring such as oak planks and parquet flooring was hidden for decades.
If you remove the carpet in a room and find parquet flooring underneath, you might be initially excited at the prospect of the find, but baulk at the amount of work that has to be done to return the floor to its former glory.
Any finish that the floor has on it in the past will need to be removed completely before any refinishing is done. The best way to do this is to use a professional sander to remove the surface layer. The floor will then need to be thoroughly swept and cleaned using a solvent based wax before it is sealed with the product of your choice.
If you need expert advice or need someone to do the renovation for you, why not contact a specialist hardwood flooring supplier and finisher. They can do the hard work for you.
