SOME EFFECTIVE CLEANING TIPS FOR HARDWOOD FLOORS

Hardwood floors create a unique impression on all. These floors are a blend of style, elegance and beauty. They are durable and the preferred choice among home decorators and renovators.

However, many people think that it is very difficult to maintain hardwood floors. Many neglect the idea of maintaining them with the fear of causing irreparable damage to them. Relax; as maintaining a hardwood floor is an easy job. Here are a few tips.

• The problem of dirt accumulation is very common. For this, it is advisable to sweep the floor regularly. You can also vacuum it to remove the dirt that can cause scratches on the floor. Use the vacuum cleaners soft brush nozzle to prevent damage while cleaning.

• Your footwear can also damage the floor. For this, you can use centre piece rugs to spread across the flooring, or carpet runners in those areas where people walk the most.

• Avoid using excessive water to clean the hardwood floors as water can harm it. Whenever you find moisture or water on the flooring, make sure that you wipe it immediately. Also, while mopping the floor use a dry dampened mop to prevent any damage.

• Avoid dragging heavy furniture or other items across the surface of the flooring, as they can scratch your flooring. If you have to move a heavy item, clean the floor first and then place the furniture pad beneath the item and drag it. This will avoid scratches.

• Your carpets and rugs should be cleaned regularly to eradicate dirt as they may enter the weave and scratch the flooring.

• It is advisable to ask your flooring manufacturer regarding cleaning agents, buffing and waxing the flooring. They will be able to provide the specific products.
