HOW TO INSTALL OAK FLOORING

Oak flooring is one of the most popular types of wooden floors because of its sturdiness, durability and is easy to install.

Before beginning the installation process, leave the oak in the room where you want to install it for a few days. This will help the oak flooring to acclimatise to the room temperature which allows the wood to expand and adapt to the humidity and moisture of that room.

Lay the base

Sometimes, people lay some protective material under the hardwood flooring. It is not a must to use such a material, but it will help to provide a flat base and adds an extra layer of insulation.

The installation process

Begin with laying the first plank along the wall and after cutting it to the right size you need to leave a gap next to the wall for wood expansion approx 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch. After installing the first layer, start installing the other planks.

The final touches

You have to cut and lay the planks until all the planks are put together. Make sure that you have to lay each plank tightly against the previous one. If you see that there are areas which are not tight then tap the boards together with a hammer.

Once the fixing or installation is done, it will be more difficult for you to make any corrections, so try to get it right the first time.
