Hockley Golf Club Pro-Am (Friday 6/06/08)

Situated off Jct 11 on M3, follow signs for Twyford

Hockley Golf Club is a well designed Downland golf course that is well known for its strong winds. It is a par 71 that measures 6,336 yds and had surved me well during my amateur career managing to claim victory in the Junior Open, winning on the second extra hole in a three way play-off and later winning the Mens Open (Delhi Cup) by two shots in 2007.

This year the pro am was played in sunny but blustery weather and proved to be another good test.

After a solid front nine of level Par, the game plan was to carry on playing consistently and to take all chances when presented. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and I dropped two shots in the closing nine holes, finishing on two over par. There were many chances to improve on my solid start, with numerous birdie opportunities but sadly they slipped by.

A lot more positives to be taken from this round of golf with a very good contribution made by my team.
