There are a great many different woods which can be used for flooring in a home. Of these, birch is a popular choice. It offers a distinctive colour which varies according to which type of birch is used. Younger birch wood is typically lighter and creamier while wood taken from the centre of a tree will tend to be more golden in colour.

Birch offers a fine grain and a colour that is a blend of yellow and reddish brown. The range of colour lends itself to flooring particularly well as it is fairly neutral, meaning it can go well with whatever décor you happen to have.

Birch is also a relatively easy wood to work with for manufacturers as it rarely splits. However, it is more than tough enough for making into a hardwood floor and this is a major consideration.
