HOW MUCH DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE TO HAVE FLOORS PROFESSIONALLY SANDED?

We all know how the appearance of an old, worn, hardwood floor can be improved immeasurably through sanding and refinishing, but it is of course important to have the job done well.

Amateur floor sanding can lead to stripes and waves and once the floor has been stained, these flaws will become even more noticeable. Unfortunately, it is too late to do anything about it by this point.

The worst damage you can do to a hardwood floor takes place at the initial sanding stage when the coarsest sandpaper is used. If you do the job yourself, you might not be aware of what is happening at the time and it will only be later on that problems will become obvious. On the other hand, a professional will be able to do the job in such a way that the initial sanding is even and consistent and from that point onwards, problems are minimised.

Even if you don’t hire someone for the whole task, it is worth getting that initial stage professionally done. It should not prove too costly and will ensure that you get the best results. If you have a pine floor, it is even more important that you make use of an expert as this wood is softer and therefore more vulnerable.
