If you choose to purchase an unfinished floor, you will need to sand it and treat it yourself. This will give a very fresh look to your interiors and will also enhance the appeal of your home.
First, you need to carefully install your wood flooring. Do this by fitting the first board into a corner. You can then slide the second floorboard into the end of the first one, then pressing the boards together. Secure the boards by tapping in nails with a hammer or with adhesive depending upon the type of flooring.
Floor sanding is fairly effortless but you will need both a large sander for the main areas and a smaller one for edges and corners. You will need to choose the type of paper you want to use, from 40 grit right up to 120 grit.
Before you begin the floor sanding process, remember to cover the walls and remove curtains from the room to ensure that they don’t become ruined.
Floor sanding could be risky if the proper precautionary measures are not taken with regards to the surroundings and equipments. But the results of the sanding will be fantastic. Then all that’s left to do is apply the right finish to the wood.
